Denali Sampler - Anchorage to Fairbanks
Motor Coach and Rail - 3 DaysIf you're short on time but still want to experience the stunning scenery of Denali National Park, this tour is for you. You'll enjoy the comfort of our luxury motorcoach as you travel from Anchorage, as well as the incomparable views from our McKinley Explorer glass-domed railcars as you travel to Fairbanks. And you can customize your itinerary with a variety of modifications to make your Alaska vacation your own. The following is just one of many possible itineraries this package allows — enjoy!
Day 1: Anchorage
We'll pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your Anchorage hotel. For your enjoyment, there are a host of optional Anchorage activities that spotlight nearby "must-see" attractions like Portage Glacier.
Day 2: Anchorage – Denali
Journey between the mountains of the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges on an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard our luxury motor coach. Take in the wide-open scenery as you travel through the Matanuska Valley, a farming region known for mammoth vegetables, past colorful towns like Wasilla, billed as the "Home of the Iditarod", along scenic rivers like the Susitna, which means "Mother River".
By afternoon you arrive in Denali National Park. Here, you can choose from a wide range of optional activities like river rafting, helicopter flightseeing, or horseback riding.
For an entertaining way to top off the day, enjoy the optional Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre.
Day 3: Denali – Fairbanks
Take time this morning to choose from one of many complimentary park-sponsored activities and optional Denali tours including guided hikes plus white-water rafting, fixed-wing flightseeing and horseback riding. Later, board the McKinley Explorer railcars and travel deeper into Alaska's lovely interior. This portion of the route includes many scenic highlights including the town of Nenana, where Nenana Ice Classic competitors attempt to predict the date of ice break-up on the river, and the Mears Memorial Bridge, which is one of the largest single span railroad bridges in the United States.
There's time for dinner in the elegant dining room before arriving in Fairbanks. Here, you'll be met at the depot and transferred to a downtown hotel (accommodations not included).
