All Alaska Tour, Anchorage to Juneau  - 10 Days
10 day/9 night itinerary spills over into the neighboring Yukon, Canada. Whitehorse, the Yukon capital, and Beaver Creek, deep in the interior, give your vacation the unique perspective that few other Alaska vacations offer.

Day 1: Anchorage
We'll greet you at the airport and whisk you to your hotel. If the spirit moves you, take advantage of one of many optional Anchorage activities to begin your adventure.

Day 2: Anchorage
Your tour of Anchorage includes a stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Here you'll experience Alaska's many diverse Native cultures, past and present. Explore exhibits, tour authentic native villages and observe storytellers and dancers who are keeping their culture alive.
Then travel to Portage Lake along the scenic Seward Highway. Visit the fascinating Begich-Boggs Visitor Center to see glaciology in action. Your one-hour cruise aboard the MV Ptarmigan to within 300 yards of Portage Glacier presents a truly personal perspective.

Day 3: Anchorage – Denali
Journey between the mountains of the spectacular Alaska and Talkeetna ranges on an incomparable sightseeing experience aboard the McKinley Explorer railcars. Luxurious glass-domed observation cars carry you along the rails of the historic Alaska Railroad.
Take in the wide-open scenery as you travel through the Matanuska Valley, a farming region known for mammoth vegetables, past colorful towns like Wasilla, billed as the "Home of the Iditarod", along scenic rivers like the Susitna, which means "Mother River", and across Hurricane Gulch, where the train slows to 5 miles per hour to cross over the trestle built over the creek 296 feet below. From the depot you'll be transferred to your accommodations for an overnight stay at magnificent Denali National Park.

Day 4: Denali – Fairbanks
This morning, get a deeper understanding of one of North America's most remarkable national parks on the famous Tundra Wilderness Tour of the taiga forest and expansive rolling tundra. You'll marvel at Denali's awesome beauty, and hear colorful stories about the area's cultural and geological history.
This afternoon re-board the train and travel deeper into Alaska's lovely interior. This portion of the route includes many scenic highlights including the town of Nenana, where Nenana Ice Classic competitors attempt to predict the date of ice breakup on the river, and the Mears Memorial Bridge, which is one of the largest single span railroad bridges in the United States. When you reach Fairbanks, you'll be met at the depot and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Alaska's second largest city.

Day 5: Fairbanks
Tour Alaska's "Golden Heart City" and make a stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Next you're off to the fully restored Gold Dredge No. 8 where you can pan for gold and enjoy a hearty miner's lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy an adventure on the Chena and Tanana rivers aboard an authentic Sternwheeler Cruise.
You'll have the opportunity to learn about native culture, to see a bush pilot demonstration, to visit a dog musher's camp and to relax aboard the type of riverboat that plied Alaskan waters during the 1890's.

Day 6: Fairbanks – Beaver Creek
There are many scenic highlights and stories to be told by your motor coach driver as you travel the historic Alaska Highway to Beaver Creek at Milepost 1202. A stop at Rika’s Roadhouse on the banks of the Tanana River at Big Delta State Historical Park is a must. The Seattle Times and Seattle Post-Intelligencer are quoted as saying the Packhouse Restaurant has the "best food in all 1,488 miles of the Alaska Highway." Try a piece of pie or the "Famous Bear Claw" and find out for yourself.
When you arrive in Beaver Creek, you'll be 300 miles from the nearest telephone or TV, but there's no shortage of history or entertainment. This is one of two sites where Alaska Highway construction crews working from opposite directions connected the highway. On October 28, 1942, the road was completed and vehicles were able to travel the full length of the highway for the first time. "The Yukon Rendezvous" dinner theatre is another claim to fame. Enjoy a bounteous barbeque and rollicking musical escapade filled with Yukon lore.

Day 7: Beaver Creek – Whitehorse
You can't miss the towering Kluane Mountains and beautiful Kluane Lake near Kluane National Park, "Canada's Denali", as your motor coach travels the Alaska Highway to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon Territory. Enjoy the scenery from your motor coach window as miles of untouched wilderness roll by. Tonight, there's time to enjoy optional activities such as the high-kicking antics of the "Frantic Follies" vaudeville revue.

Day 8: Whitehorse – Skagway
Continue today along the Klondike Highway to Fraser, British Columbia, and then get ready for a real thrill as you ride the historic White Pass & Yukon Railroad following the still-visible Gold Rush trail to the summit of White Pass. "Too cold for a polar bear and too steep for a billy goat..." is how the Pass was once described and you can imagine what it must have been like to have been crossing here on foot. But the train will bring you back down the mountain right into the port town of Skagway.
Here your evening is free for your own explorations and you'll find no end of fun and adventure in this restored Gold Rush Town. It's all part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park so you can't help but soak up 1890's flavor.

Day 9: Skagway – Juneau
Let us show you around this historical gold rush boomtown on a morning tour. You'll learn about the stampeders who came to Skagway at the Trail of '98 Museum and hear stories about con artist Soapy Smith and his nemesis Frank Reid at the Gold Rush Cemetery. Take time out for one of our optional Skagway activities and enjoy a last look at Skagway on the transfer to the airport. Then Fly to Juneau and transfer to your hotel in Alaska's capital city.

Day 10: Juneau
There's so much to see and do in Juneau that you might want to stay another day to take advantage of all our optional Juneau activities. But if you just can't stay with us any longer, we'll take you from your hotel to the airport and bid farewell.
