Classic and Chena Hot Springs Adventure
Back in 1934, the small northern community of Fairbanks (pop. 2,500) started a winter festival that has grown yearly into an international event.
Ice thrones sculpted to stage the crowning of the Carnival King and Queen have evolved into magically lit structures including castles and pyramids and imaginative figures like a giant spider and web or a towering centaur. The ice sculptures are on display until they melt adding drama to the passing of Fairbank's long winter. Combined with a visit to Fairbanks' famed Chena Hot Springs, this vacation is not to be missed.

March 12  Fairbanks
Arrive in Fairbanks and transfer to your downtown hotel. The afternoon and evening are on your own as you gear up for the exciting activities to come.

March 13  Fairbanks
Tour Fairbanks, Alaska's "Golden Heart City" and visit the world-renowned exhibits at the University of Alaska Museum. This evening enjoy a stroll through the World Ice Art Championship displays. On site are more than 180 sculptures created by artists from Russia, Poland, Hungary, Japan, France, Finland, the Czech Republic, Canada, and Mexico among others. The displays have been created from massive blue cubes of ice stacked and carved into a variety of figures and judged by strict rules of competition. When lit these amazing works of art glisten like Arctic diamonds.

March 14  Fairbanks – Chena Hot Springs
This morning travel to Fairbanks' extremely popular destination for outdoor winter activities and relaxation – Chena Hot Springs. This afternoon, enjoy a guided dog-sledding adventure. For the perfect way to relax after this exciting Alaskan adventure get up to your neck in hot water — the famous waters of the mineral hot springs at Chena. And this is the land of the Northern Lights. Viewing the Aurora Borealis was voted by the Travel Channel as being one of the "top 100 things to do before you die." One of the best places to achieve this goal is Chena Hot Springs Resort. It is located under the most active band of northern lights, it is away from the light pollution of the city, and the skies over Chena are clear more often than those over Fairbanks, just 60 miles away. Imagine soaking in Rock Lake while the arcs of light and color of the Aurora Borealis dance above you in the night sky. You can also visit the Resort's Aurorarium or take a Snow Coach ride to the top of the ridge to get unobstructed views of the northern lights. We leave nightly at 10 pm and return at 2 am. There is a heated yurt and hot beverages for an experience that's not to be missed.

March 15  Chena Hot Springs – Fairbanks
Your morning is free for optional activities at Chena Hot Springs. You can pamper yourself with a therapeutic massage or explore the great outdoors on an optional activity. There are a host of flightseeing activities for local exploration and sightseeing across the Arctic Circle. You can horseback ride, take an ATV 4-wheel tour, explore via mountain bike, or pan for gold. Then it's back to Fairbanks for your final evening in the Great Land.
