THE JASPER GONDOLA (Tram)

YOU CAN SEE 50 LAKES FROM THE SUMMIT!

The Longest aerial tramway in Canada features a seven minute trip (2,500 meters) up to "the Whistlers". There are boardwalks around the upper terminal, a barbeque deck and an amazing 45 minute hike to the summit of the mountain. The views are from above the timberline and the valleys below seem as mystical as the moon. Maximum elevation is 8,100 feet and the air is crisp and clean.

To the right are the  "Five Lakes" and you can barely make out the Jasper Park Lodge near the lakes. The highway at to top of the photo leads East to Edmonton and beyond and the highway to the right is the Icefields Parkway which travels south to Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise and Banff. The highway to the bottom of the picture travels West into British Columbia and on to Vancouver.
(Lakes; Beauvert, Mildred, Trefoil, Edith and Annette)

It's like looking down from an airplane while still standing on the ground!

View of Jasper from Whistlers Summit at 8,100 feet.

How do you get to the tram? Drive west and then south from Jasper 3.5 miles on the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93). The Whistlers Mountain Road turnoff is on the right as you are traveling south. 2.5 miles up the road brings you to the lower loading platform. This is a nice place for a picnic or quick lunch while you are waiting for the next tram. The tram is open mid-March to October.
