AMAZING LAKE LOUISE

Stand before one of the most scenic and famous
sights in the Western Hemisphere

Over a mile above sea level and only 35 miles from Banff the area is blessed with majesty and glorious hiking trails. Consider a hike to the teahouse where your efforts will be rewarded with soup, tea, coffee or pastries. The views along the way make the uphill hike well worth it although the hike is not recommended for those in poor physical condition. The waterfall and lake at the summit are pretty and serene. Victoria Glacier (pictured here) is perched behind and above Lake Louise, a sight that never fails to amaze.

MORE ON CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE

PLAIN OF THE SIX GLACIERS HIKE
This is a place you want to see!
Take the Lakeshore trail west and then follow the trail as it climbs through boreal forest. You will enter a moon-scape glacier and avalanche zone (moraines) and arrive at a summer meadow. Have tea or soup at the Plain of the Six Glaciers Teahouse, built in the twenties by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Continue uphill another kilometer (half mile) to a stunning viewpoint. Your hike has elevated you a thousand feet. Before you stands not one but six Rockie Mountain Glaciers. From left to right they are Aberdeen, Upper Lefroy, Lower Lefroy, Upper Victoria, Lower Victoria and Pope's. Of the hundreds of thousands of tourists that visit Lake Louise yearly, very few will venture up here. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones if you have.

Please note there are more than one
teahouse hikes in the Lake Louise area.
