(TF044)

Our "First Class" guided tour  includes the famous Rocky Mountaineer
A great way to see the grandeur of Western Canada's Rockies including Jasper and Banff,
the Icefields Parkway, Kamloops and finally Vancouver, British Columbia

You will never forget this grand adventure!

Day 1  Arrive in Calgary, Alberta,  only an hour from the Rocky Mountains.  Calgary is a great place to start or end your vacation.  Travelers arriving by 5:00PM can meet our lively and entertaining tour guide in the lobby of our hotel.  This evening we meet for a welcome drink.  Overnight Marriott Hotel or similar  OR we can arrange transfers to Banff, Alberta

Day 2  Our incredible adventure begins with a deluxe motor coach tour!  We depart by deluxe motor coach for Yoho National Park, one of the four mountain parks that comprise a Unesco World Heritage sight.  Our first stop is beautiful MORAINE LAKE followed by by famous LAKE LOUISE, one of the most perfect spots on Earth.  The water of these lakes is a distinct aquamarine blue color and we'll hear of how rock flour makes it so.  Overnight Lake Louise Inn or similar.

Day 3  We travel north on the astounding Icefields Parkway.  People come from all over the world to travel this breathtaking highway.  Board our comfortable Sno-Coach for a ride onto the ATHABASCA GLACIER at the overpowering Columbia Icefields (weather permitting).  Waters from this cluster of 30 glaciers feed three major river systems that run to three oceans.   It is the most accessible glacier in North America and not to be missed.  This evening we overnight at Jasper Mountain Park Lodge for 2 nights.

Day 4  We have the day free to explore JASPER townsite.  Can we recommend renting bikes and riding any of the many trails near town.  Perhaps hire a taxi to take your bikes up to PYRAMID LAKE and ride downhill back into town!!  Sample world class restaurants and soak in the hotel's jacuzzi.  Great hikes from town include challenging Old Fort Point Trail (4Miles),  moderate Athabasca River loop (3 miles),  or the Patricia Lake Loop (4miles).   The air is fresh, the people are friendly and even the Elk or deer may give you a smile.  Ask your tour guide about optional tours that are available.

Day 5   Travel once more on the Icefields Parkway south to Banff.  Follow along the Continental Divide and stop at some of the 20 scenic viewpoints including thundering ATHABASCA FALLS.  See the lofty peaks of Mt. Athabasca, Mt. Andromeda and Mt Edith Cavell.  Arrive in Banff for two nights at the Banff Park Lodge.

Day 6  After a hearty breakfast we tour Banff Townsite, Bow Falls and Tunnel  Mountain.  There are  hiking trails available from town including Discovery trail or Central Park East or West.  This evening we enjoy fine dining (three course meal) at our hotel's restaurant.

Day 7  Today we begin our Rocky Mountaineer Train Journey through the Rockies..  All Aboard this morning for one of the most renowned train journeys on earth.  Second only to the Trans-Canada in its grandeur this is a special journey over the Continental Divide and down the slopes past several mountain ranges to the Pacific Coast.  Wow!   The first incredible twist is the trip through the famous "Spiral Tunnels".  Freight trains of 100 cars or more actually twist in a circle inside the mountain and come back out of the mountain with the front of the train over top of  (or beneath) the back of the train.  Follow the Kicking Horse River past glaciers, snow-sheds, and through many tunnels to Rogers Pass.   Pass Craigellachie where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railroads' "Trans-continental" rail line was driven into the ground in 1885.  Our journey continues past Shuswap lake and along the South Thompson River to Kamloops, British Columbia.  We stop for the night and transfer to our moderate hotel.

Day 8  Board the train and we are served breakfast at our seats while watching the stunning scenery roll past.   Follow the Thompson River through the Fraser Canyon, along the Coastal Mountains and down onto the fertile Fraser Valley.  Our tour ends this afternoon as we roll into Pacific Central Station in pretty VANCOUVER, British Columbia.
