LIMITED DEPARTURES

Day 1
Our incredible train journey begins at Toronto's Union Station (downtown) for our 9:00AM departure aboard the "VIA Rail Transcontinental" bound for Pacific Canada.  Our first class rail cars are refurbished to the 1950's genre in Art Deco.  The observation dome offers unequalled views as we roll across the Appalachian Shield of Ontario.  The private bedrooms are comfortable and all meals are included.    VIA RAIL BEDROOMS  /  DINING CAR  /  DOME CAR  /  PARK-LOUNGE CAR

Day 2  Each day is a culinary delight as all meals are included.  We pass sparkling lakes and boreal forests as we roll into Manitoba, the province of 100,000 lakes.  Drink in the vistas from the dome cars and enjoy the terrific on-board service.  We arrive in Winnipeg in the early morning.  This evening let the train gently rock you to sleep.

Day 3
Wake up and enjoy coffee and a delicious breakfast in our dining car.  Relax as we forge across the great wheatfields of Saskatchewan before our morning arrival into Edmonton, capital and largest city in Alberta.  Transfer on our own to the West Edmonton Mall Hotel or other hotel as chosen.  May we recommend the historic McDonald Hotel or the Westin Hotel in downtown.

Day 4-5  We have two full days to explore the mall and Edmonton on our own.  We suggest the Alberta Legislature and downtown Edmonton including the most unique city hall anywhere.  How about lunch at the Harvest Room in the historic and majestic MacDonald Hotel.  Hike the The river valley (Edmonton has more parks than any city in North America) and lively Whyte Avenue.  Perhaps rent a car and drive to Jasper in the Rocky Mountains.

Day 6  We are welcomed aboard our deluxe motor coach.  We travel south via Red Deer to Calgary meeting additional travelers en route.  Sit back and enjoy the breathtaking scenery as the vast prairies transform to Ranchland and then Majestic Rocky Mountains.  Arrive in Salmon Arm, Gem of the Shuswaps.

Day 7  Arrive in the beautiful city of Kelowna, the center of the fruit and vineyard region, hugging Lake Okanagan.  We'll spend two nights here.  Enjoy a wine tasting at one of the many world class wineries and try your luck at the new Lake City Casino.

Day 8  Enjoy an area tour of Kelowna with time to explore a little on our own.  Perhaps enjoy 18 holes of golf, a stroll through lovely waterfront park, a boat cruise or a shopping spree in the many stores.  Early evening promises a unique experience on the Okanagan Valley Wine Train.  The handsomely restored cars make a round-trip north from Kelowna, traveling through two valleys, along three lakes, through the middle of a golf course (four!), and past countless farms and orchards.  A delicious dinner is served aboard by enthusiastic train staff, many of whom double as entertainers for the fun-filled family show held at the Powerhouse Theater in Vernon.  The Las Vegas style show features multi-talented dancers costumed in exquisite creations of rhinestone, sequins and feathers.  Return to our hotel, exhausted by and incredible day.

Day 9  Our motor coach tour continues to over the Majestic Rogers Pass to Fairmont Hotsprings.  Enjoy the many amenities of this well known health and vacation resort which features an outdoor mineral spring pool, indoor sauna and whirlpool.

Day 10  Transfer to Banff with a short driving tour included before we continue to either your Calgary Hotel (for those who wish to fly home from Calgary the following day), or to Edmonton.  You may wish to continue your journey with a VIA rail train tour through the Rocky Mountains to Vancouver.
