Day
1 Depart
from Edmonton (or Calgary) to Grande Prairie, near the Canadian
Rockies. Overnight Grande Prairie.
Day 2
Continue to Dawson
Creek this morning. Take a picture of "Mile 0" where the
1,500 mile Alaska Highway will carry us to Fairbanks. The Peace
River Valley will guide us to the Rockies and then on to Fort Nelson
where we spend the night.
Day 3
Travel through Stone
Mountain provincial park and then over Summit Pass, the highest
elevation on the Alaska Highway. Dip into the soothing waters of
Liard Hot Springs before arriving in Watson Lake in the Yukon
Territory. See Signpost Forest, a collection of signs planted by a
homesick soldier in 1942. Overnight Watson Lake
Day 4
We continue to
Whitehorse today. Spectacular views of the Cassiar mountain range
await us as we cross the Continental Divide. Picture stop at Miles
Canyon is following by arrival into the capital of the Yukon Territory
this evening. Whitehorse was made famous by thousands of
prospectors en route to the Klondike gold fields.
Day 5
Our great adventure
continues as we retrace the original trail used by Yukon goldseekers of
1898. Pass Lake Laberge, made famous by the Robert Service poem, the
Cremation of Sam Mcgee. Arrive in Dawson City and try your luck in
the casino or watch a show at Diamond Tooth Gerties.?
Day 6
Gold was
discovered at Bonanza Creek in 1896. Over
100,000 hopeful prospectors stampeded into the area creating the largest
goldrush the World has ever known! It is now a world heritage UNESCO
sight. They clambered over the Chilcoot Trail with a ton of mandatory
supplies. Stop and pan for gold and then enjoy a visit to the
dredge with the afternoon free to skip across the boardwalks. Overnight
Dawson City
Day 7
The
Top of the World Highway delivers us across the border into
Alaska. Leave the treeline and drink in the vistas in all
directions. Visit Santa Claus house before arriving in Fairbanks,
Alaska for the next two nights
Day
8 Climb
aboard the Riverboat Discovery, with a stop at an Athabascan Indian
Village. Enjoy lunch in downtown Fairbanks before a special trip to see
the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. This evening savor delicious food at
the Alaska Salmon Bake and then a dinner show at the Palace Theater.
Day 9
Continue today to Anchorage on the George Parks Highway past famous
Mount McKinley, the highest peak in North America. Visit the
Alaska Veterans Memorial and the Iditarod Dog-sled headquarters.

Day 10 Our
motor coach delivers us to Portage lake where we board the MV
Ptarmigan for a cruise to the face of massive Portage Glacier.
Then we feature a tour of Anchorage with some time to shop or visit
museums in the afternoon.
Day 11
Depart
Anchorage and watch the scenery change as we travel through the
Matanuska Valley to Glennallen. We skirt the Wrangell to St Elias
National Park to arrive in Tok, home of many a dog-sledder!

Day 12
Today we cross the border into Canada to visit Whitehorse. We leave the
snow-capped Alaska Range behind us as we enter Kluane National Park. Upon
arrival into Whitehorse you will be able to say that you have traveled the
entire Alaska Highway! Overnight Whitehorse
Day 13
All aboard the WhitePass
and Yukon Railroad to the coastal town of Skagway, Alaska. This
old-fashioned train takes you along a very scenic valley to sea
level. Stroll the streets of historic Skagway where we also
spend the night.

Day 14 All
aboard! The Alaska State Ferry system takes us on a 2 night
journey to Juneau, the Inside Passage south into British Columbia.
Day 15
The views of the coastline are spectacular with lush forests, fjords
gouged by giant glaciers, seabirds and maybe even dolphins eagles, and
bears.

Day 16
Arrive in Prince Rupert, home to the new Superport that carries goods
from the coast to Edmonton on Canadian National Railways and on to
markets across North America. Overnight Prince Rupert.
Day
17
Continue on our motor coach past the dense forests, rivers and streams
of the Coast Mountain Range. Enter the rich farmland of northern
British Columbia as we arrive in Prince George.
Day 18
We travel from Prince George across the Alberta border into Jasper
National Park. Visit Jasper and continue to Hinton, located in the
foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy a Farewll Dinner this
evening as this is our last dinner together. Overnight Hinton.
Day
19
Our motor coach delivers us from Hinton to Edmonton with service
continuing to Calgary for those who wish.

journey through the Rocky mountains on the following day. It is well worth
the effort as the journey is one of the most spectacular train journeys
