For Independent Travelers who like to explore on their own this is the way to do it.  From exciting cities in British Columbia to the World's densest
rainforest you will have the freedom to see what you want.  Stroll along beaches, hike tranquil forests, watch for wildlife, see formal gardens, sample local cuisine and maybe even take a whale watching tour.
Natures bounty awaits you on Vancouver Island.

Car rental, hotels and sightseeing are all pre-arranged.
All you have to do is show up!  Available from any date.

Day 1-2  Arrive on your own in Vancouver and pick up your rental car.  The day is yours to explore this vibrant city.  Your second day is also free for discovery, including the Lookout Harbour Center (included) for panoramic views of the city, and Capilano Suspension Bridge (included).  We can pre-arrange a visit to Whistler resort, about an hour and a half to the north.

Day 3  Today you transfer to the ferry port.  Board the ferry and enjoy a meal as you sail across the inside passage to beautiful Vancouver Island.  Drive the short distance to Butchart Gardens (admission included) to enjoy the fabulous floral displays and fountains.  It is hard to believe that one of the most beautiful spots in all of Canada was once an ghastly rock quarry.  Continue to Victoria and check into our hotel for the next 2 nights

Day 4  To enhance your day in Victoria we have included a Victoria Attractions pass that allows you to see the many sights.  Don't miss the beautiful harbor area and consider stopping in at the mighty regal Empress Hotel for "High Tea".  Overnight Victoria.

Day 5  Today you drive the scenic route "up-island".  Consider stopping in Dunca or Chemainus to see the dozens of murals the town is famous for.   Arrive in the the hilly seaside city of Nanaimo.  Nanaimo bars originated here and Nanaimo has lot more to offer as well.  Watch the ferries arrive, stroll the sea walk, and be sure to check out the lively arts culture.  The locals know a secret.  The beaches north of Nanaimo, such as Raithstrevor are some of the most picturesque in the World.  Overnight Nanaimo.

Day 6  The Island Highway takes you inland through mountain passes and vast forests.  Arrive on the west coast of Vancouver Island and continue to Tofino with its numerous galleries and topnotch restaurants.  Walk on Long Beach (it really is long) on the Pacific Ocean.  Tofino is strategically located at the edge of Pacific Rim National Park.  Bear and many other animals are seen here and you will be surprised by the variety of wildlife.  Giant cedar trees filter the lights and several parts of the trails are built on raised platforms to effortlessly guide you through the dense forest.  One day Park entrance is included.
Overnight Tofino Area.

Day 7  Today's highlight is whale-watching (included).  There are several species of whales that travel through and in the waters around Vancouver island and you have a good chance of seeing whales on this trip.  The remainder of your day is free to browse shops in Tofino or spend a second day on the beaches or forests of Pacific Rim Park.Charter boats are also available for salmon fishing and skin diving.   Overnight Tofino Area.

Day 8  Bid farewell to this Pacific playground and depart for Nanaimo on Highway 4.  Stop at Nanaimo where you catch the BC Ferries departure to North Vancouver, from where you transfer to one of our downtown Vancouver hotels.  Perhaps dine in one of Vancouver's two revolving restaurants with terrifc views.  There seems to be water all around Vancouver and this is one reason it was voted number one city in North America to visit by the American Business Association.  It is truly one of the prettiest cities anywhere.

Day 9  Check out of your hotel and renturn your rental vehicle to end your great adventure OR we can arrange additional nights and adventures for you.

Perhaps catch the train from Vancouver westbound into the vast Canadian Rockies??
